It may be a period property that has been remodelled sympathetically or extended with the best traditional materials (see Fowey Hall Hotel). Wholesale refurbishment of busy hotels can be done while the the business remains open. The Manchester Ramada is a good example of a £50m parallel refurbishment conducted between January 2007 and October 2008 - the 70's Piccadilly Gardens structure has been transformed into a luxurious venue.
