Craven Swimming Pool, in Skipton, cost £3.9 million and opened in 2003 with an extension in 2008 that prompted the commercial photography and architectural photography shown here. Its state-of-the-art design includes a moveable floor learner pool, access for disabled users and the option for women's only sessions.
The pool has vastly exceeded its target of 165,000 visits per year. It currently attracts 261,000 visits, including 12,000 from members of the council's card scheme which gives concessions to low income groups, disabled people and the over 60s.
The fitness suite is part of the Inclusive Fitness Initiative, which ensures it meets the needs of disabled users. Currently, 7.2 per cent of members are registered disabled. The success of the fitness suite means that a new extension was added in 2007 providing a 6 laned swimming pool, sauna and steam room facility, a dance and fitness studio and a high quality 32 station health suite - all areas that helped create eye-catching commercial photography and architectural photography.
