The Royal Ascot redevelopment, designed by Populous, not only included a new grandstand but also a 400 metre internal galleria, a hotel, health club and restaurant - ideally suited to commercial photography and architectural photography. While the seating capacity has not increased, the redevelopment improves circulation and access and provides improved viewing lines of the racing, parade ring and winners' enclosure - a joy to capture for a commercial photographer.

The focal point of the redevelopment is undoubtedly the new stand itself, a great focal point for commercial photography and architectural photography. The distinctive design is defined by the spectacular parasol roof suspended on 'structural trees' shown in the architectural photography. The stand is flooded with natural light, using glass and aluminium materials, bringing the outside in as you walk through the galleria.  It is this natural light that assists in creating architectural photography images.
