Riverside Wandsworth Phases I, II and III
Client: Frasers Property Developments Ltd
Stage: Phase I and II completed 2006. Phase III due for completion 2010
Approx Construction Cost: £250 m ($500 m)

The initial remit was to improve the quality of the original Planning Consent obtained for the first two phases of development shown in the commercial photograhy and architectural photography. This was achieved by a reconfiguration of the blocks to increase the number of residential units and provide each with views of the river.

The new solution was embraced by the Planning Authority and the scheme re-emerged as a series of elegant 'fingers' of building running at right angles to the River and with the intervention of soft and hard landscaped gardens which become animated after dark by imaginative lighting to accentuate the trees and plants.

An even more innovative design where four stunning buildings were planned along the riverside, arranged with a series of interlocking shells which increase in height to the centre with an orientation which again provided the residents with panoramic views of the river shown in the commercial photograhy and architectural photography.

The new buildings, which rise to 15 storeys in height, will make a dramatic contribution to the local townscape and will create a safe, friendly place to live, work and play shown in the commercial photography and architectural photography. The key to the success of the entire development is that the impact of vehicular movement is kept to an absolute minimum by utilising large underground car parks concealed beneath the generous areas of landscape which soften the entire site and provide private pockets of genuine tranquillity.

The site is also 'public friendly', with waterfront areas fully accessible to anyone wishing to enjoy the riverside environment and then wander through the heart of the scheme. The completed £250 million ($500 million) development will make an important contribution to the regeneration of the Wandsworth waterfront.
