Big changes are underway at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust to improve the experience of patients illustrated in the commercial photography and architectural photography.  About £500,000 pounds has been invested in these improvements with more than half of this coming from FACE the Guy's and St Thomas' charity.

No department or ward is moving. The big changes, which went live on 7 January 2008, included changes to the building names at Guy's Hospital, new signage and upgrades, and changing the postal addresses of both hospitals.

Every year, hundreds of patients miss appointments after arriving at the wrong hospital, and it's easy to see how this occurs.

Guy's Hospital address was listed as St Thomas Street and St Thomas' Hospital address was Lambeth Palace Road, which was the Accident & Emergency entrance and not the main entrance. Guy's Hospital address has changed from St Thomas' Street to Great Maze Pond and St Thomas' Hospital from Lambeth Palace Road, to Westminster Bridge Road. These are the roads which each main entrance is located on illustrated in the commercial photography, and now allow patients to find their way more easily.  In addition to this, the Trust is changing the names of the main buildings at Guy's, which are confusing.

For example, a patient could be forgiven for thinking New Guy's House was the newest building on the Guy's site when, in fact, the newest building is Thomas Guy House shown in the commercial photography and architectural photography.

The new building names at Guy's were inspired by the local area. They are as follows:

- 'Guy's Tower' will change to 'Tower Wing'.
- 'Thomas Guy House'
will be split into 'Southwark Wing' and 'Bermondsey Wing'.
- 'New Guy's House'
will change to 'Borough Wing' and on the ground floor the area which houses Minor Injuries and
- Oncology Outpatients, which cannot be reached by the Main Borough Wing lift lobby, will be the 'Tabard Annexe'.

Internal physical improvements are also taking place with the introduction of colour-coded schemes for the wings of the hospitals illustrated in the commercial photography.  A successful initial stage has already been completed in St Thomas' in the South and North wing corridors and work is continuing at both hospitals. The Trust is also introducing new signage, which will reflect the new names at Guy's, as well as new signage at  'wing' entrances, large maps at each main entrance and at each wing entrance there will be alphabetical directories of departments.  Some signage for patient services is changing to less complicated names, such as Paediatrics and Ophthalmology changing to Children's Services and Eye Department respectively.
